DAY 57

Sunday June 26 2005

These last few days I have been just relaxing into it, so to speak, and my days have been filled with laughter, joy, and music. What memories I will have when I get back home! This really has been the vacation of a lifetime.

Today I was awake by seven thirty and ate breakfast, then I tried to rent a motor scooter and tour the island but the guy wouldn't rent to a first timer. I explained that I have done ice biking, and mountain biking, I even showed my drivers license. Nothing doing. So I just went swimming in the ocean for half the day. Ah, this is the life! The water was colder than I expected, but the salt content was so high I barely had to even tread. How relaxing! I did have one minor freak out when a school of fish swam by me. Wow! This water is really clear! Afterwards I just walked the old town section of the island. I took a siesta through the hottest part of the day and met up with the others for happy hour around five pm.

Yesterday Kasha had us all meet up in front of the hotel, by the palm trees, and she explained that today we would have happy hour around five pm. As she was explaining the words "Happy Hour" a foreigner walked by and said I love America. We all laughed! After happy hour I hooked up with some of the others and we went out for a sea food dinner and gelato. On the way home I stopped by a disco and just popped in for a look see, there were about 30 kids of all ages, from 5 to 13 all dancing their little hearts out to pop music. Such abandon, it was an enjoyable surprise to watch. Tomorrow we leave for Slovenia.

Swimming, swimming, swimming.

Now that's marketing!

Island life!

I am a long way from Alaska!

The horde!

Bojan, our bus driver! While we are off sightseeing, he is cycling.

Dinner, I am sure Jeff would be very envious. I had a steak so soft you could cut it with a butter knife.
