DAY 63

Saturday July 2, 2005

Transit day.

Not much happened today. I won't even post any pictures because I didn't take any.

I basically woke up and ran out the door to my train, which lasted seven hours and then I landed in Amsterdam.

Since I had a few hours before my check in at Hans and Marjet's B&B in Haarlem and I got off in Amsterdam, I decided to eat breakfast/lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe in Amsterdam.

It was raining when I arrived and I overheard 5 backpacker guys talking about how they don't know where they will sleep tonight and cracking jokes about looking for a hostel in the rain. Good to know that I am not the only one that travels like this.

Almost every single person I met that was younger than me traveled the same way.

Almost every single person I met that was older than me traveled exclusively by preplanned reservation.

Very interesting.

At any rate, I am very happy to be back in my number one favorite place, Haarlem. When I walked back into that B&B it was like walking back in time. It's good to be back, even if it is only for a day and a couple of nights.

I snacked on a whole bunch of fruit for dinner, grapes, berries, and cherries. Mmm! Delicious! Its hard to get fruit when traveling.

In two days I fly home. What an adventure I have had! A special thanks goes out to Hans and Marjet for keeping all my bike and gear in storage for me while I did the Rick Steves tour. Thanks, it's appreciated!
